OPGS provides capacity-building training and technical assistance to District of Columbia agencies, nonprofit 501(c)(3) corporations, as well as community and faith-based organizations. OPGS has a special interest in servicing District based emerging nonprofits whose programs are often overlooked by mainstream funders in order enhance their leadership and organizational capacity to better compete for and manage grant related program services.
OPGS’ capacity building functions assist local service providers to identify, apply, and manage competitive grants and related in-kind resources. Throughout the year, OPGS offers a variety of training seminars and workshops to diverse nonprofit executives that cover a wide variety of topics including board development, fundraising and grant development, proposal writing, program evaluation, DCRA and IRS compliance guidelines, and social media applications.
In addition, OPGS hosts an annual Public Private Partnership Conference for nonprofit, private, and public sector leaders from the Greater Washington Metropolitan Region to share national best practices used to establish, strengthen, and sustain programs and promote collaborative relationships.
