The Community Foundation Announces Launch of the City Fund

Grant proposals now accepted for $15 million fund supporting D.C. nonprofits

October 21, 2013 – The Community Foundation for the National Capital Region announced that applications are now being accepted for the City Fund, which is slated to invest $15 million in new dollars to make the District of Columbia a more healthy, stable, and vibrant place to live for all its residents. The fund, originally proposed by District Mayor Vincent C. Gray, supported unanimously by the DC Council, and funded by District government funds, will support effective nonprofits that provide critical services across the city. The City Fund seeks to advance the three broad goals as outlined in Mayor Gray’s One City Action Plan: grow and diversify the District’s economy; educate and prepare the workforce for the new economy; and improve the quality of life for all.
