After an applicant is authorized to accept a fixed asset, the agency may directly accept the asset. The receipt of the fixed asset donation must be reported by the agency AFO on the Fixed Assets System (FAS) that is maintained by the Office of Financial Operations and Systems (OFOS). For more information on FAS, contact OFOS at 202-442-8228.
Before an agency requests OPGS approval to accept the donation of a fixed asset, the agency must assess the usable condition of the asset, the costs (if any) to place the asset in a usable condition, and the costs to maintain the asset and determine if there is a cost benefit to the District. A donated asset that does not offer a cost benefit to the District will not be approved for acceptance.
